Manual Mode, Focal Length

Week 4 - Monday

Using a short focal length and a medium shutter speed of 1/60.
Focal Length: 24.0mm
The difference I can see between these two images on focal length is that the top image shows how the background seems so far, where the bottom image shows the background up close.

Focal Length: 105.0mm

Colour Correction Exercises

Week 4 - Thrusday

Editing my own two images using colour correction.

Im using this image I chose from working with aperture in the first week, it was taken at home of the garage door with a rain drop ready to fall down. Can really tell a difference, it was a cloudy day, now I wanted to make it look like it was sunny by moving the exposure and highlight dialler then using the white balance tool. This is my outcome.

The second Image of freezing movement.
I used Grace for her hair so she could sway it around. The difference I wanted to get across was to show more of the layers in her hair to get that effect I mostly used the shadows dialler and played the rest like the highlights, exposure and temperature. I did use the white balance as well. This is my outcome.

Colour Correction Exercises

Week 4 - Thursday

Over Exposed Image of using the shutter speed exercises.
In this image I just played around with the exposure and the highlights, didn't really touch the rest of the edits but overall it looks alright.

Under Exposed Image of using the shutter speed exercises.
I played with the temperature, tint and the white balance tool in the left corner to just mess around with the colour of the image. I then was playing around with the shadows then pulled the dial on the exposure tool to have some light in the image because it was way too dark. The outcome seems pretty good.

Manual Mode, Focal Length

Week 4 - Monday

Three photos taken at three different focal lengths keeps subject the same size in the frame.
The photos I took are pretty much not in place but there is a big difference towards them all.

70
Everything looks the same like in person when your just taking a normal picture of someone.

135
The lighting seems good, comparing this image to the above one, theres a big difference in the background where it looks up close.

300
This is under exposed compared to the others, I didn't know that till I uploaded them to the computer so this is the image I only had. By looking at it, the background seems more up close to her.

Shutter Priority

Week 2 - Thursday

Francesca Woodman
In these images I got Grace to swing her key chain in a circle motion to have that blur effect on the camera which kinda made it look cool. The difference I can see between the images is that the higher the shutter speed the more it will freeze motion which is pretty cool. When I was using the camera I didn't really see the difference till I put it on bridge on the computer. Im happy with what I got.

Shutter Priority

Week 2 - Thursday

Richard Avedon

This is a portrait artwork I chose from Richard Avedon to respond too. I guess it just looked easy to do, just simple. Centre vantage point where the subject is looking straight towards the camera. The subject is placed in the middle of the frame. There is not much emotion in her face, more like deadpan.

My response to the image above using the shutter speed of 1/80. I like how everything went in progress but the thing I missed was her looking straight into the camera like what the image above is like. Other than that I like it.

Shutter Speed

Week 1 - Monday

Francesca Woodman
High angle vantage point, higher f stop so it makes it a wide DOF. She's looking into the camera, positioned more to the right of the frame. Vantage point is mid view, only because she is bent down leaning back on to the wall.

My response to the image above, I like how everything went well with the image but I wanted her hand to do the blur movement in the image, where everything else is in focus.
ISO: 100
Aperture:16.0
Shutter Speed: 2.0

Centre angle vantage point because it's focused straight towards the subject, body is in focus while the head is blurry, higher f stop so its a wide DOF, the subject is looking down because I can only see the head shaking but downwards.

My response to the image above, I like how everything is in focus like how it is in the the actual work Francesca did in hers, especially the head shaking.
ISO: 100
Aperture: 10.0
Shutter Speed: 2.0

Aperture Priority

Lee Jeffries
Black and White Shot elder women wearing reading glasses.
Looking straight toward the camera, camera angle is shot slightly high above the women.
Centre portrait photo. Crop head and shoulders. Everything's in focus
 Response
ISO: 200
Aperture: 5.0
Shutter Speed: 1/30

Rehahn
Face and background is in focus, his hand and smoke is out of focus, narrow DOF.
He is centred in the frame looking straight into the camera
Response
ISO: 200
Aperture: 5.0
Shutter Speed: 1/320

Lee Jeffries
Eyes are in focus, while smoke in hand is out of focus, as well as the background.
He is looking slightly above the camera towards the right.
Crop heads and shoulders, placed on the right of the frame, portrait image.
Response
ISO: 200
Aperture: 5.0
Shutter Speed: 1/60

Rehahn
Covered women, with coloured eyes that stand out. More to the right of the camera, looking directly in the lens. Portrait Vantage Point is high, crop head and shoulders. Narrow DOF because the background is blurred out.
Response
ISO: 200
Aperture: 5.0
Shutter Speed: 1/320

Vanessa Wu

Aperture Priority
Self Directed Task

Vanessa Wu's Artwork
Narrow portrait DOF
Three flowers, the one in front is in focus while the background is blurred out.
My response using three red flowers that I used from the garden outside the cafe. Put it on white paper like how in her works with white background.
ISO: 400
Aperture: 4.0
Shutter Speed: 1/400

Vanessa Wu's Artwork
Wide DOF
Everything is in focus with the pedals laid out on the table with a lot of lighting because of how it shows the shadows of the flowers.
My response to her artwork, I used the pedals from the flowers I used in the response I did with the three flowers where one was in focus.
ISO: 400
Aperture: 22.0
Shutter Speed: 1/15
